What is a wiki?
A wiki is a website that uses wiki software, allowing the easy creation and editing of any number of interlinked Web pages. Wikis are often used to create collaborative websites, to power community websites, and for note taking. The collaborative encyclopedia Wikipedia is one of the best-known wikis. Ward Cunningham, the developer of the first wiki software, originally described it as "the simplest online database that could possibly work." (July 2009, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki)
1. Editing
In order to edit, click on the edit button at the top of the page you like to edit. When you click on “edit”, if you do not have an account the Wiki system will prompt you to create one. It's an easy process: simply enter your email address and create a password...and you're ready to edit. If you have an account, please log before editing.
2. Editing lock
Wiki does not allow two different users to edit the same page at the same time. Therefore, when you click on the edit button, it is possible to get a message that somebody else is editing the page and the page is "locked". Please wait a short while to allow the other user to finish his/her work. If the page remains locked for an extended time, you may break the lock and terminate the other user’s editing session.
3. Typing in wiki
Wiki in the edit mode looks like a Word document, with very similar tools.
4. Working with tables
You may need to create a new row in the charts. Right click in the last cell or anywhere in the table that you want to add a new row, choose "row" and select "insert row after". It inserts a new row. Then, you can type in the cells.
5. Saving
Make sure to save your work. The save button is at the left corner of each page in the edit mode. Do not wait to finish your work and then save; save your work frequently.
